Euroresales Property iD - 9826255
Famed for its glorious Atlantic beaches, golf resorts, welcoming culture and low cost of living, Portugal continues to be one of the most desirable places across Europe to live. This excellent apartment building offers someone the chance to make a smart investment into this simply wonderful part of the world.
Located in Agualva-Cacem, 20 minutes from the heart of Portugal's famous capital, Lisbon, this spacious property (167m2) is a loft on the top floor of an apartment complex and features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open plan design, terrace area and is surrounded by excellent views.
This building offers a unique opportunity of being close to the heart of this mesmerising city, and its commerce areas such as Lisbon Baixa (Baixa de Lisboa) but also just a few miles away from many of the region's glorious beaches. The holiday rental market is going through a golden age right now thanks to the emergence of direct rental sites such as Airbnb and booking.com and Portugal is one of the most popular areas in this context.
Thanks to its ideal location, this property not only offers buyers a potentially wonderful, spacious and comfortable place to live themselves, but is also a smart investment into the ever-growing Portuguese holiday rental market. Lisbon is not only a stunning place in its own right but is also a great base from which to explore the many other fantastic places Portugal has to offer such as nearby Sintra, Setubal, Porto and of course the famous Algarve.
One other huge attraction in the holiday rental and residential markets is the fact the area is surrounded by countless sports and leisure opportunities such as the many nearby walking, cycling, water sports and fishing areas. Golf fans will also feel right at home with many courses nearby including Golfe Paco do Lumiar and Oeiras Golf. No discussion on sports in Lisbon would be complete without mentioning the fact that the city hosts two of the most iconic clubs in world football in Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, who compete in the Portuguese Super League, the home stadiums of both clubs are less than 20 minutes away from the property.
The area is also very well-connected transport wise both locally and internationally with Lisbon Portela Airport roughly 12 miles away, this is of course yet another huge plus point in the context of the holiday rental/commuter markets. The apartment is also within walking distance to a train station which connects directly to Sintra and other parts of Lisbon such as Oriente; Cais de Sodre and Alcantara.
ABOUT THE AREA
Seven cinematic hillsides overlooking the Rio Tejo cradle Lisbon's postcard-perfect panorama of cobbled alleyways, ancient ruins and white-domed cathedrals - a captivating scene crafted over centuries.
Dining in Lisbon is far more dynamic than navigating countless preparations of Portugal's beloved bacalhau (dried and salted cod fish; 365 recipes and counting!). While bacalhau a Bras (shredded cod with onions, eggs and potatoes; a Bairro Alto original) is never far, Lisbon's strategic seaside position on Europe's doorstep means a bounty of fresh seafood (octopus, tuna, monkfish, shrimp, sardines, clams, snails) rules the city's kitchens, from Michelin-starred restaurants to gourmet-food markets to countless corner tascas (taverns). Top-grade Alentejan beef beckons with juicy steaks and gourmet burgers, and you'll find everything from tantalising indian curries to authentic Moroccan couscous in between.
Cheap booze and the absence of open-container laws means Lisbon loves a night on the town! Don't be fooled by Bairro's Alto's sleepy daytime feel - by night, these narrow cobbled lanes transform into one of Europe's most raucous drinking locales. Student dives, traditional fado houses, upscale wine bars and tourist hot spots merrily coexist among the muddled mess. in Cais do Sodre, Pink Street and environs are home to some of the city's classic nightclubs and rowdiest cocktail bars, while trendier mega clubs stretch along the waterfront from Santos to Santa Apolonia. Last call? Sunrise!
Lisbon's trademark seven hills are spread across the cityscape like lofty guardians of colour and history. Capped by a collection of terraces known as miradouros (viewpoints), a must-see web of no-filter-necessary views over Lisbon, the Tejo and beyond is formed. Our favourite miradouros - Portas do Sol, Sao Pedro de Alcantara, da Graca, da Senhora do Monte, Santa Luzia and, of course, Castelo de Sao Jorge - all offer stunning spots to get your bearings and while away afternoons over bica (espresso), elegant glasses of Touriga Nacional or refreshing pitchers of sangria, while enjoying the city's stupendous horizons.
Agualva-Cacem is located in the municipality of Sintra. it comprises the civil parishes of Agualva, Cacem, Mira-Sintra, and Sao Marcos, equivalent to 80,000+ inhabitants of the municipalities population.
The name Agualva-Cacem belonged to a civil parish that encompassed 10.51 km2 (4.1 sq mi) of the municipality of Sintra. On 12 July 2001, that parish was elevated to the status of city and divided into four civil parishes (24 July 2001).
The toponym "Agualva" is derived from the Latin Aqua alba, meaning white (pure) water, while "Cacem" is derived from the Arabic Qāsim (قاسم), meaning "the one who distributes".
Agualva-Cacem is divided into four civil parishes, which fall within a territorial extent within the Greater Lisbon subregion, an area of mostly residential suburbs.
The train station (Estacao Ferroviaria de Agualva-Cacem) has existsed since 1887 (then under the operation of the Larmanjat railway company (1870-1877)). it was completely remodelled in 2013 (remodelling works began in 2008).
